Welcome To The "Rotary Elvis Extravaganza 2008"

The Rotary Club of Pattaya, together with an organisation committee consisting of Peter John Creed, Alexander Valentine, from Tropical Lifestyle Television, Niels Colov from Pattaya People and a handful of helpful expats have joined forces to organise the "Elvis Extravaganza 2008", which will be held on the 19th. January, 2008 at the "Vientiane" restaurant on South Pattaya Road (near Big C).on Saturday, 19. January at 19:30 (7:30pm).

With the signing of 4 professional Elvis impersonators, a great sixties band, a special guest appearance from the "Blues factory" band, together with big video screens, tom-bola (raffles), Fire Show, Mercy Children's Show and a "Best Dressed Elvis" prize (only guests, no professionals) of the evening, the Elvis Extravaganza 2008 promises to be an event for all to remember.

The Extravaganza Night

Wow! We certainly did not expect the show to be this good. Apart from a few minor troubles, everybody agreed that this show was next to a perfect first time success for the Rotary Club of Pattaya and Mercy Children Centre

A grand sum of over 420,000 Baht profit was achieved

The members of the Rotary Club of Pattaya Committee all did a splendid job in organising this fantastic evening, with over 450 paying guests.

The Extravaganza opened at 7:30pm but many guests were there before the official opening time. The staff had their hands full trying to cope with the hoards of guests wanting to join in the fun.

4 professional Elvis impersonators from Pattaya and Bangkok sang and danced through their repertoirs, jiving up even the dullest of guests, while Alexander Valentine, the Master of Ceremonies, joyfully joined in by adding his own, personal Elvis impersonation.

Special guests on the evening were The Blues Factory Band, from Walking Street, who kindly played free of charge and livened up the guests with their great musical sounds, before the main programme started.

The Thai-Vietnam-Laos food buffet, included in the entrance of 600 Baht, was not only superbly displayed; it also gave the best gourmets a run for their money, with everything ranging from Thai Red Curry to the finest seafood.

The committee would like to convey their special thanks to Jimmy and all his staff at the Vientiane Restaurant on the South Pattaya Road, Pattaya, for helping us make this evening so memorable.

Motorcycle T-Shirt Auctions (Peter John Creed), raffles, and a very special motorcycle auction, led by professional auctioneer, Bobby, the owner of Platinum Motorcycles, who also kindly donated the 125cc Platinum motorcycle, which achieved a grand sum of over 23,000 Baht, rounded up a superbly organised charity event evening of entertainment and fine dining to the benefit of

Mercy Children Centre

At their weekly meeting at the Town In Town Hotel, The Rotary Club of Pattaya honoured Mr. Peter John Creed with a Rotary Club of Pattaya Remembrance Shield as a special thank you, not only for his organisational committee part, but also for the amount of time and effort that he personally put into making this year's Rotary Elvis Extravaganza a charity show to remember.

The Rotary Elvis Extravaganza Committee would like to thank all the staff and helpers, on and before the event, for their kind support. Very special thanks to:

Nils Colov: Pattaya People Media Group
Alexander Valentine: Lifestyle Television, Pattaya
The Blues Factory, Walking Street, Pattaya
All gold sponsors, Silver sponsors and other sponsors
All paying guests for their kind support

The Proceeds

The proceeds of this years extravaganza were donated to the Mercy Children's Center in Pattaya, which is run by Fred and Dianne Doell. The Mercy Center is an authorised charity project of the Goodwill Foundation, which is registered in Thailand.

In January, 2006, the centre was fortunate enough to find a property which has proven to be perfect for carrying on the good work of Mercy. The facility provides a large home for over 20 children that Mercy Center presently cares for. It also has enough room for many more to come. Since the children's centre opened, it has protected and provided for over 50 of the city's most desperate children in need.

The property also contains a large factory building that is being renovated to house the many other projects that operate under the umbrella of the Mercy Center.

The centre now has the possibility of purchasing this property, that will, hopefully, provide accommodation for a further 20 children. However, in order to do so, it must raise the sum of 2.000.000 Baht for the required deposit, before the end of January, 2008.

Donations to the Mercy Center can be made through their website, using this link:
