About
Us The Rotary Club, Pattaya, together with a few helpful expats, has formed a committee to organise the Rotary Elvis Extravaganza 2008. The event will be held once a year, the first time being on Saturday, 19th. January, 2008 at the "Vientiane Restaurant, on South Pattaya Road (near Big C). The entrance will open at 7.30 pm. The proceeds of this year's event will be donated to Mercy Center, Pattaya, to help them finance their new “Home for Children”. Alexander Valentine, a rotarian and executive producer of Tropical Lifestyle Television in Pattaya, came up with the idea of staging this yearly event after an interview with Fred and Dianne Doell from the Mercy Chidren's Centre (the Mercy Centre is an authorised charity project of the Goodwill Foundation, registered in Thailand). The couple have been running the centre since 2000, which offers shelter and help to children desperately in need. In January, 2006 they found a property that is ideal for their present and future needs. They now have the opportunity of purchasing the property. However, for this to be possible, they must pay a deposit of 4.000.000 Baht by the end of January, 2008. Although they have already raised a great deal towards this sum, they still need a lot more. For this reason, the Rotarian
Elvis Extravaganza committee has decided to donate the full proceeds of
this years event to the Mercy
Children's Centre. |
